FAQ
Are students allowed to check themselves out if they are 18 years of age or older?
No, we must still speak to a parent or guardian. Students may only check themselves out if they are emancipated.
Are students allowed to check out for lunch?
No, Hot Springs High School is a closed campus. In fact, students may not be checked out by phone between 11:15 a.m. - 12:35 p.m.
May I bring lunch in for my student?
Yes, you may bring lunch in for your student, but only for your student.
Am I allowed to check my child's friend out?
You may only check out another student if the front office has written documentation from that student's parent or guardian.
Does HSHS provide after school tutoring?
Yes, arrangements are made through the particular department or your child's teacher.
How do I keep track of my student's grades?
HAC or
Home Access Center
is the new system in place that parents will use to keep track of their student's grades.
Why do I receive calls about absences when my student is at school or participating in a school function?
If a student is not physically present in his/her assigned class then teachers are to mark him/her absent. The attendance clerk will make adjustments based on whether your child is listed as a participant in a school activity. The automated call will alert you of any absence or tardy from class.
May I give permission for the school nurse to give my child Tylenol or Ibuprofen?
No. All nurses, including school nurses, are prohibited from giving any medication, prescription or non-prescription, which is not ordered by a licensed physician.
Is my student able to keep over the counter medication on his/her person?
No. Self-administration of medication by a student is not allowed. All medication will be kept in and given from the school nurse's office. No prescription OR over the counter medications are to be in a student's possession at any time.
How do I notify HSHS of a change of address or telephone number?
You may call or send the new information to the front office.
